10 Aug Application for another 70 houses in Galley Common
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has published a planning application by local housing developer AR Cartwright for another seventy homes at the rear of Tunnel Road in Galley Common, Nuneaton.
You can view the application on the Council’s website by clicking this link and searching for application ref 037294.
This application is in addition to the 14 houses due to be constructed by Cartwright Homes on the same piece of land.
The green areas of Galley Common have been ravaged by developers over the last few years, with hundreds of housing being built across two huge developments on Plough Hill Road, plus the smaller site, ‘The Zu’, also on Plough Hill Road and also built by Cartwright Homes.
Those developments were given the green light despite opposition from residents and local politicians because the Labour controlled Borough Council had taken so many years to submit a local housing plan, allowing developers to take advantage of planning rules and ruin our local area.
I have asked this application to be called in to be discussed and voted on by the Council’s Planning Committee and will be opposing the development.
We do not have the infrastructure to take any more houses in this area. The Plough Hill Road developments should have included a new access road to ease the flow of traffic, but they went ahead without one.
At what point will the Borough Council stick up for our area and stop any unwanted and unnecessary housing developments?
If you have any comments or objections please respond to the Planning Department at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council by 26 August 2020.
